Norstar 8x 24 (Copper) Systems

TThe Norstar Modular 8x24 phone system is an easy-to-use yet feature-rich digital phone system. Fully expandable, it will grow as your business grows. Trunk and Station Modules can be added in the future to add to the capacity of the system. This expandable system is designed to meet the high growth potential of small and medium sized businesses. The basic 8x24 KSU expands easily by simple self contained add-on trunk and station modules. Any combination of six modules can be added to the KSU to a combined maximum of 128 total ports. An expansion card is required to add modules to the 8x24 KSU. Expansion cards come in either 2 module expansion or 6 module expansion. This expansion card plugs directly into the KSU. The trunk and station modules then connect to the expansion card with a single plug in cable. Station Module 0x16 provides for the addition of 16 station ports. The Trunk module 12x0 provides for a maximum of 12 trunk ports. The trunk module by itself does not provide trunk access. Trunk cards 4x0 go into the trunk module (maximum 3 trunk cards) per trunk module. It has built in connections for music on hold and loudspeaker paging. The administration or the programming can be done from any extension on the system with M7310 phone or a larger phone. Or by using a computer with NRU (Norstar remote utility) software and connect to the FastRad either directly through a serial connection or remotely using a line.

  • This system is designed on a module- and cartridge-based concept that offers easy installation, maintenance, expansion and customization.

  • The base Modular 8X24 supports up to 8 lines and 24 stations, but can expand with Trunk and Station Modules for additional lines and terminals.

  • The Modular 8X24 can support up to 6 Trunk Modules, each with a maximum of 12 CO lines, or 6 Station Modules each with 16 stations.

  • When fully expanded, the Modular 8X24 system supports a combination of 128 ports on a combination of lines and stations, up to a maximum of 80 CO lines or 120 stations or combinations of the two.

  • The system can be configured as analog CO lines, station ports or connections for other devices such as personal computers, data devices, and analog terminal adapter.

  • There are two built-in cartridge slots in the base Modular 8X24 unit. The feature cartridge slot (the smaller of the two) houses the system software. The expansion cartridge slot (for a two- or six-port copper cartridge) is used to connect copper Trunk and Station Modules.

  • Central Office lines enter the Norstar, and station ports exit the Norstar through two male 50-pin amphenol connectors. The amphenols is also used for connection of external devices such as Music on Hold, source, paging and auxiliary ringers.

  • The Modular 8X24 is also equipped with two emergency transfer ports used to connect 500/2500 (single line phone) sets in the event of a power failure.

  • The feature cartridge contains the system software for the Modular 8X24 operation, including the call processing, administration, and maintenance features and functions.

  • The 8x24 requires a CII-M8 for CMS/CLASS (Caller ID) functionality on the first 8 lines on the main cabinets or by using caller ID trunks on the expansion 12x0 trunks modules.

Features:

All features of DR5

  • ATA answer timer
The last digit you dial on a device connected to an analog terminal adaptor ATA and when the KSU is ready to receive DTMF tone from the far end analog device. Up until now there was a fixed seven-second distributing delay now you can shorten or lengthen the delay depending on the requirements of the device Attached to the Facsimile machines and credit card sets, for example, require a three second delay.
  • Auxiliary Ringer
To resolve the problem of an auxiliary ringer indicating internally transferred calls, the Auxiliary ringer can be set by line and by telephone. The telephone setting when combined with the line
Setting allows you to choose if the Auxiliary Ringer (if installed) will ring when a call is sent to a specific telephone or on a specific line. For example, an incoming call on a line programmed to yes will ring the auxiliary ringer. Once the calf answered and transferred within the system, the auxiliary ringer will not ring a call sent to a telephone that has auxiliary ringer set to.
  • Do Not Disturb on Busy
When you are busy on a call and a second call comes in, your telephone rings softly to alert you to the second call. If find this second ring distracting, you can have the second call from you by assigning Do Not Disturb (DND) on Busy to extension.
